Happy Mother's Day!

Dr. Maya Angelou says Mother's Day is a time to embrace our mothers and all the women in our lives. "You don't have to deliver children to be a mother," she emphasizes. "When you love somebody, you lift them up, you pray for them, you teach them and you encourage them. That's mothering."

Today is Mother's Day. As we celebrate our own mothers and those mother figures in our lives, I am pausing today to think of Dr. Angelou's quote and how it is applicable to us in Clarksville in the aftermath of the flood. Communities and neighbors have come together to help, encourage and lift up one another. I am inspired and proud of Clarksvillians for reaching out and taking care our community.

So today, while I enjoy time with my family and honor my own mother. I also want to honor the mothering spirit of our community.
