Dr. Maya Angelou says Mother's Day is a time to embrace our mothers and all the women in our lives. "You don't have to deliver children to be a mother," she emphasizes. "When you love somebody, you lift them up, you pray for them, you teach them and you encourage them. That's mothering."

Over the past days and weeks friends have gently (and some not so gently) encouraged me to run for Mayor of Clarksville, my home and Tennessee's 5th largest city. My answer was simple, "I love Clarksville, but I'm running for Governor."
